About the course
Spray tanning is one of the quickest treatments you can add to your beauty business: around 20 minutes per client, with results that last 7–10 days. On this one-day Spray Tan Training Course, Emma teaches you one-to-one in her private academy in Portglenone, County Antrim, Northern Ireland.
You’ll learn how to consult and prepare your client, set up and clean the machine, find the correct spray flow and apply an even, natural-looking tan. Emma demonstrates a full spray tan on a live model, then you carry out your own spray tan on a second model and are assessed.
You go home with an ABT-accredited certificate, a kit including a 1-litre bottle of professional tanning solution, private access to Emma’s spray tan video library, and the pricing, costings and 30-day business plan to start taking paying clients.
What you will learn
- Consult and prepare clients, including contraindications, pre-care and aftercare
- Set up, use, clean and troubleshoot a spray tan machine and tent
- Find the correct spray flow and apply an even, natural-looking full-body tan
- Work hygienically and safely, in a salon or as a mobile tanner
- Price your treatment from your own costs and plan your first 30 days of clients

How the training runs
Your training day
Before your training day
Your training manual and quiz are sent once your place is confirmed, along with access to Emma’s video library. Study them before you arrive, so the day is spent on practice.On the day
10.00am – Welcome, theory review and quiz check: consultation, contraindications, skin preparation, health and safety
11.00am – The machine and tent: set-up, spray flow, cleaning and troubleshooting
12.00pm – Emma demonstrates a full spray tan on Model 1
12.40pm – Lunch
1.10pm – Your own spray tan on Model 2, assessed
1.50pm – Pricing and costings, your 30-day plan and certificate
2.30pm – FinishLight refreshments and snacks are provided. You’re welcome to bring your own lunch.
Before you start
- No previous spray tan experience is needed.
- Bring two models: one for Emma’s demonstration and one for your own spray tan. If you’re struggling to find models, let Emma know as early as possible and she’ll help.
- Models don’t need a patch test before their spray tan.
- Study your training manual and complete the quiz before your training day.
- The spray tan machine isn’t included in the kit. Emma will recommend machines to suit different budgets, based on what she uses in her own salon.

Who is this course for?
Complete beginners, salon owners and mobile beauty therapists who want to add spray tanning to their services. No previous experience is needed.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. On successful completion you receive an ABT-accredited certificate, and you get 10% off ABT insurance.
Is a spray tan machine included?
No. To keep the course price down, Emma recommends machines to suit different budgets, based on what she uses in her own salon, so you can choose the right one for you.
Do I need to bring models?
Yes, please bring two models: one for Emma’s demonstration and one for your own spray tan. Models don’t need a patch test. If you’re struggling to find models, let Emma know as early as possible and she’ll help.
How do I pay?
A non-refundable booking fee of £100 secures your place. The remaining balance of £299 is due on your training day.
